Kratom Addiction & Recovery

NPB Recovery provides personalized care for those who have gotten addicted to Kratom. While Kratom is often marketed as a natural product at gas stations for pain, anxiety, and other conditions, recent studies are showing its misuse can lead to dependency, addiction, and severe health issues.

We use evidence-based approaches that are commonly used for narcotics that have proven to be useful for kratom addiction. We address these components in a holisitic fashion, we provide support, and we help those addicted to kratom overcome their dependency. Our program is located in West Palm Beach, Florida and our facility offers the environment you need to take the first steps towards a more fulfilling and healthy life.

Getting High & Addicted to Kratom

How to Know If Someone Is High on Kratom

There are subtle, and not so subtle, signs that someone is on Kratom.

Common signs include:

  • Varying Energy Levels: Kratom can act as a stimulant when taken at moderate doses causing an elevated mood. As you take more Kratom can produce more of a opiate like feeling which could have a sedative effect.
  • You may think they are sick: When someone uses Kratom frequently they could develop digestive issues such as vomiting and excessive sweating. They may have a flushed appearance.
  • Pinpoint Pupils: Pupils will look similar to someone on opiates. Kratom will make the pupils noticeably constricted. They will look like a pinpoint.
  • Irritability: Users of Kratom may become irritable, more anxious than usual, and seem more isolated than they may normally be.
  • Frequent Urination: Kratom’ usage may result in needing to urinate more frequently.

Recognizing these signs can help loved ones intervene before addiction takes hold.

Symptoms of Kratom Addiction

Kratom is an addiction that can develop gradually over time. Early intervention is key to a successful recovery.

Common signs of addiction include:

  • Cravings: An addict will have an intense craving for kratom and will not feel satisfied unless they are high.
  • An Increased Tolerance: An individual needs more kratom to achieve the same effect.
  • Inability To Quit: This is a factor, especially if there has been a consequence. If the kratom has negatively affected the user's life and they are still unable to stop it is a clear indication that an addiction is forming. These negative effects could be in regard to work, home, physical health, and personal relationships. Other times it could be financial or ethical. In other words, some people will spend more than they can afford or do things they normally would not do in order to require the Fentanyl. This is a definitive sing of addiction.
  • Neglecting Responsibilities: Kratom makes interacting with the world nearly impossible, which leads to poor performance and neglected responsibilities.
  • Social Isolation: When someone is addicted, it is common to withdrawal from friends and family to hide the addiction, use the drug, or spend more time with other users of the drug.
  • Mood Swings: The cycles of euphoria and lethargy we mentioned above accompanies the highs and lows of being addicted to kratom.

Addressing these symptoms early through professional care can prevent further harm and support long-term recovery.

Withdrawing & Detoxing From Kratom

Symptoms of Kratom Withdrawal

Physical Symptoms of Kratom Withdrawal

When withdrawing you may feel aches, especially in the back and legs. Most heavy Kratom users should expect to feel physical withdrawal symptoms. They may also experience issues with their digestive system which could result in nausea and vomiting. Temperature fluctuations are possible, although not everyone will experience that. If you do, you can expect to experience sweating and/or chills. Many Kratom users have reported insomnia and fatigue when withdrawing form kratom.

Mental Symptoms of Kratom Withdrawal

Emotional and mental challenges are the other component of detox. The emotional challenges can be immense including irritability, restlessness, and anxiety. This makes it extremely difficult to find peace, making relapse very likely. When an individual is having trouble getting over feelings of depression, hopelessness, and anxiety we encourage them to seek detox. One of the most challenging mental symptoms is the persistent craving for kratom, which can create a strong urge to use the substance again, making the recovery process even more difficult.

How To Quit Kratom

Quitting Kratom for Good

Quitting kratom is possible with a strategically designed treatment plan. When quitting you want to find a program that understands kratom, provides flexibility, and designs their treatment plans on evidence-based modalities such as CBT. Many users of Kratom were addicted to another drug at some point in time. That being said, it is important to address the root cause of addiction - not just the Kratom usage itself. Our therapists will help you develop healthy coping mechanisms and become a master at avoiding and handling your triggers. Our overall goal is to watch you reach long term sobriety.

Therapies & Modalities to Quit Kratom

We believe in a holistic approach and healing the mind, body, and spirit. We use a blend of evidence-based approaches rooted in CBT. We help clients identify negative thought patterns that contribute to the abuse of Kratom. In group therapy you'll meet others in recovery. You all will hold each other accountable and build a connection that is rooted in recovery. The other connection that is fostered is with the family. NPB Recovery puts a focus on family support and resources in order to rebuild trust and strengthen the relationships of those who want your sobriety. Finally, we offer relapse prevention. Our primary objective is to prevent relapse and reach long term recovery. Relapse prevention training teaches strategies for identifying and managing triggers, reducing the likelihood of relapse.
